GES Refutes Claims of Payment for SHS Placements

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has strongly denied widespread claims on social media suggesting that parents and guardians are being asked to pay money for the placement of their children into senior high schools.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Mr. Daniel Fenyi, the Service reaffirmed that the school placement process is “absolutely free of charge” and cautioned parents, guardians, and students against making payments to any individual or group in exchange for placement.
“At no point should any parent, guardian, or student pay money to any individual or group of persons for placement into any Senior High School or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution,” the statement emphasized.
The GES clarified that it has put in place official and transparent processes to manage school placements, stressing that the only approved platforms for addressing placement issues are the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal, Resolution Centres, and official GES communication channels.

The Service further encouraged the public to be vigilant and to promptly report any individuals demanding money for placements.
“We encourage anyone who is approached with demands for money in exchange for placement to report immediately to the Ghana Education Service or the nearest police station for swift action,” the statement read.
According to the GES, school placements are strictly based on merit, transparency, and fairness, adding that the exercise is not for sale.
The Service assured stakeholders of its commitment to upholding equal opportunities for all qualified candidates across the country.
