GES Opens 2024 School Placement Portal for Students

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) for 2024 is now active. This update brings excitement and anticipation for students, parents, and educators alike as the placement results for Senior High Schools (SHS) have been officially released. Students can now access their placement results online and prepare for the next step in their academic journey.

How to Check Placement Results

To access the 2024 SHS placement results, students should visit the CSSPS portals at www.cssps.gov.gh or www.cssps.org. Upon logging in, students will need to enter their 10-digit index number and year of completion (e.g., 123456789024) to view their placement status. It is advisable for candidates to print their enrollment form, placement slip, and school prospectus for future reference.

Placement Statistics

GES has shared detailed insights into the placement outcomes for the 2024 academic year. Of the 563,339 candidates who took the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), 553,155 qualified for placement. Remarkably, 447,698 students, constituting 80.93% of qualified candidates, have been successfully placed in one of their selected schools.

However, 104,918 qualified candidates could not be matched to any of their initial school choices. Among these, 73,390 students (13.27%) have received alternative placements in schools with similar profiles to those they selected. These students can either accept the proposed school or choose a new one through the Self-Placement module on the CSSPS portal.

Self-Placement for Unmatched Candidates

For students who were not automatically placed, the Self-Placement module provides a flexible solution. To utilize this feature, students must:

  1. Log in to the CSSPS portal.
  2. Select their preferred region, residential preference, school, and program.
  3. Submit and print their self-placement form.
  4. Proceed to their chosen school to complete admission.

One of the advantages of the Self-Placement module is its adaptability, allowing students to change schools multiple times until they finalize their enrollment. Additionally, all schools with available slots are listed on the platform, making the process transparent and accessible.

Academic Calendar and Key Dates

The GES has outlined the following schedule to ensure a smooth transition for students entering their new institutions:

30th October 2024: Heads of institutions are instructed to begin registration and orientation for incoming students.

7th November 2024: The academic calendar commences, marking the official start of classes for the 2024 school year.
