GES Launches New Teacher Support Communication System Nationwide

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has initiated a major step toward improving teacher support systems with the rollout of a training programme to operationalise a Teacher Support Helpline across the country.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the National Teaching Council as part of broader efforts to improve teacher morale, transparency in administrative processes, and access to reliable professional information.
The training programme follows findings from a Teacher Motivation Study disseminated in 2025, which highlighted persistent challenges affecting teacher welfare and access to timely institutional communication.
In response, GES management approved the establishment of a structured Teacher Support Helpline and Query Tracking System to serve as an official communication channel between teachers and the Service.
GES is the main body responsible for implementing approved national education policies and managing pre-tertiary education administration nationwide, making the helpline a key strategic tool for strengthening institutional responsiveness to teacher needs.
Training Programme and Objectives
According to an official communication dated January 15, 2026, the training is designed to equip regional teams with practical skills to manage the helpline system effectively. The programme is expected to enable regional teams to:
- Serve as first points of contact for teachers within their regions
- Receive and document calls and queries from teachers
- Provide verified information and guidance at the regional level
- Escalate unresolved or policy-level concerns to the national level
- Track cases and provide feedback to teachers on issue resolution
Each region is expected to nominate three officers to participate, including the Regional Public Relations Officer, Regional Human Resource Officer, and one designated support staff member who will serve as a call handler.

Venue and Schedule
The training is being held in Kumasi at the Noda Hotel. Key dates for the programme include:
- Reporting Date: February 15, 2026
- Training Sessions: February 16–17, 2026
- Departure Date: February 18, 2026
Regional Directors have been directed to release nominated officers to fully participate in the training and support the subsequent rollout of the helpline in their respective regions.
Strengthening Institutional Communication
The establishment of the Teacher Support Helpline is expected to improve communication flow between teachers and GES leadership, particularly on welfare, professional development, and administrative matters. This aligns with ongoing reforms aimed at improving education service delivery across Ghana.
The initiative is also expected to complement other digital and communication reforms introduced by GES in recent years to make teacher support systems more responsive and accessible.
Leadership Endorsement
The training invitation was issued under the authority of Munawaru Issahaque, Acting Deputy Director-General (Quality and Access), on behalf of the Acting Director-General. The communication was copied to key GES leadership offices based in Accra, reinforcing the national importance of the programme.
Expected Impact
Education stakeholders believe the Teacher Support Helpline could significantly reduce delays in addressing teacher concerns, improve trust in institutional processes, and enhance overall teacher satisfaction if effectively implemented nationwide.
The training programme marks another step in GES’s commitment to building a more responsive, teacher-centred education management system, ensuring that educators receive timely support to enhance teaching and learning outcomes across the country.
