GES Issues New Directives for Document Submission: Salary Upgrades, Reactivation, and Responsibility Allowance

The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has observed a recurring issue where staff members leave their respective offices and schools to submit documents directly to the Payroll Section at GES Headquarters. This practice has been found to negatively impact working hours and consequently, the quality of education delivery.

To address this concern, Management has issued a directive aimed at streamlining the document submission process. Effective 3rd June 2024, all Regional and Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education are required to adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Centralized Submission of Documents: Documents related to Salary Reactivation, Vacation of Post, Responsibility Allowance, Re-engagement, Termination, and New Entrants (Newly Recruited) must not be handed over to individual staff members or their representatives for submission at GES Headquarters. Instead, these documents should be compiled and sent by the Regional HR Officer.
  2. Accompanying List: All compiled documents must be accompanied by a list, provided in both soft and hard copies, and forwarded to the Director, HRMD, GES Headquarters, Accra.
  3. Orderly Arrangement: The documents must be arranged in accordance with the accompanying list.

This new process is expected to enhance efficiency in document handling, reduce unnecessary staff movement, and ensure that educational duties remain uninterrupted.

Management anticipates full compliance from all relevant parties to ensure the smooth implementation of this directive, ultimately contributing to the delivery of quality education across the country.
