GES honours Upper East Region Teachers

The Upper East Region of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has valued the contributions made by teachers to the Service.

“Your selfless sacrifice in ensuring better learning outcomes in our schools is highly appreciated, and I congratulate you for your selfless service,” Mr. Bright A. Lawoe, the Regional Director of GES, said to teachers in the region on Teachers’ Day.

The message was contained in a statement that was copied to the Ghana News Agency in Bolgatanga and signed by Mr. Nathaniel Nyaaba, the Service’s regional public relations officer.

The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) created the World Teachers Day celebration in 1994 to mark the adoption of the UNESCO and International Labour Organisation guideline on the status of teachers worldwide.

Every year on October 5, people commemorate it.

This year’s celebration was on the theme: “The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage.”
