GES Director-General Joins President Mahama for Launch of Transformative STEM Box Initiative for Basic Schools
The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, on Thursday, December 4, joined H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, to officially launch the groundbreaking STEM Box initiative for basic schools across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Davis expressed deep appreciation to the Government for its sustained commitment to strengthening practical science education in Ghana. He described the introduction of the STEM Box as a game-changing innovation designed to bring hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning directly into every classroom.

According to the Director-General, the initiative is expected to spark curiosity among pupils, inspire creativity, and equip learners with essential problem-solving skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world shaped by robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital technology.

Prof. Davis further assured that GES remains fully committed to supporting teachers nationwide with the necessary training and guidance to ensure effective implementation of the STEM Box in schools. He emphasised that the nationwide rollout marks a major milestone in preparing Ghanaian children for a future driven by innovation and technology.

He also extended gratitude to all partner institutions whose support has made the initiative possible, and called on school leaders, teachers, parents, and community members to work together to champion this new era of STEM education.

The STEM Box initiative reinforces GES’s renewed focus on nurturing confident problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and future innovators ensuring STEM in every classroom and a brighter future for every Ghanaian child.
