GES Condemns Assault on Kade SHTS Teacher, Vows Swift Punitive Action

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has strongly condemned an assault on Mr. Michael Quayson, a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School, after a video of the incident went viral on social media. The attack, allegedly carried out by some past students of the school, has sparked widespread concern about teacher safety and discipline within educational institutions.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 10th December 2025, the GES confirmed that preliminary investigations show the incident occurred on 5th October 2025. According to the report submitted to management, the aggrieved students confronted and assaulted the teacher because he was perceived to have been strict on them during the invigilation of the 2025 WASSCE Christian Religious Studies paper.
The Service expressed disappointment that the matter was not reported to either the school authorities or the GES until the video surfaced online. Since the footage emerged, the GES has taken over the issue and initiated a full investigation.

Describing the attack as “unacceptable, unlawful, and a direct affront to the dignity of the teaching profession,” the GES assured the public that all individuals involved would face appropriate sanctions in line with national laws and internal regulations.
Management further reiterated its unwavering support for teachers across the country, especially in maintaining discipline and ensuring the integrity of examinations. “We stand firmly with all teachers and will continue to back their efforts to uphold discipline in our schools,” the statement read.
The GES also called on students nationwide to show respect for authority and uphold the highest standards of discipline to foster a safe and conducive learning environment.
The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the GES.
