GES Clarifies 2025 BECE Aggregation for Senior High School Placement

The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) team has provided clarity on how aggregates for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be calculated for senior high school placements.
According to officials, the aggregate is derived from a candidate’s performance in the four core subjects—English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies—together with the best two grades from the remaining subjects. The formula is as follows:
English + Mathematics + Integrated Science + Social Studies + [two best subjects].
While this aggregate system is important, the CSSPS team stressed that raw scores remain the primary factor in the placement process, as they provide a more detailed reflection of a candidate’s performance.

In a notice signed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) Public Relations Officer, Daniel Fenyi, candidates, parents, and teachers were reminded that the CSSPS portal has been opened for confirmation of school choices. The portal can be accessed via https://www.cssps.gov.gh/hub/login, where a 24-hour support service is available through the “Message” option to address any concerns or discrepancies.
“The portal will remain active until September 8, 2025. We encourage all candidates to log in and confirm their selections before the deadline,” the notice emphasized.
GES further appealed to the public to provide constructive feedback that will help enhance the placement system for future candidates.
