GES Awaits Financial Clearance to Begin Recruitment of Teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has completed all necessary preparations to begin the recruitment of 2023 graduate teachers from the country’s public Colleges of Education. The only remaining step is the issuance of financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance, a critical requirement before GES can officially commence the recruitment and posting process.
This assurance came to light during a high-level meeting between the leadership of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) and the Director-General of GES, Prof. Frank Kofi Davis, held on June 2, 2025. The TTAG delegation, led by its President, H.E. Razak Soale, engaged senior GES officials—including the Head of Legal Affairs, the Internal Auditor, the Head of Public Relations, and the General Secretary—on the status of postings for the waiting graduates.
Addressing the concerns raised by TTAG, Prof. Davis confirmed that GES has submitted a comprehensive recruitment budget for all qualified graduate teachers. “GES has prepared and submitted the full recruitment budget covering all graduate teachers from the public Colleges of Education,” Prof. Davis revealed. “The budget has been successfully defended and approved by the Ministry of Finance and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education. The process is now awaiting final financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance, after which GES will immediately begin recruitment and postings.”

He further emphasized his commitment to a smooth and transparent recruitment process, especially as this would be his first recruitment exercise since assuming office as Director-General.
TTAG welcomed the update and expressed appreciation for the Director-General’s openness and readiness to engage. However, the association stressed the need for urgency in concluding the final steps. “We call on the Ministry of Finance to act with urgency to finalise this process so graduates can be posted without further delays,” TTAG President Razak Soale stated.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to advocacy and transparency throughout the process. “We remain committed to keeping the 2023 graduates informed and advocating for their timely recruitment,” TTAG noted.
TTAG also urged all affected graduates to remain calm and patient as they continue to engage relevant authorities to ensure swift resolution and postings.
The education sector now looks to the Ministry of Finance for the needed clearance to give thousands of newly trained teachers the opportunity to begin their professional journey in Ghana’s classrooms.
