The General Public warned by GES about fake WhatsApp number

The public has been warned by the Ghana Education Service (GES) not to use a WhatsApp line that purports to be from them.

Any such number, according to the service, is phoney and should be ignored.

GES stated in a Facebook post that it was the work of dishonest individuals.

“We do not have a WhatsApp line. This is what some unscrupulous persons have done by adding a WhatsApp line. Kindly ignore,” GES cautioned.

This follows difficulties with the computerised school selection and placement system.

Since last Thursday, hundreds of parents of students who took the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have flocked to Accra’s GNAT Hall to find placement.

The centre, with the exception of category “A” schools, was established by GES to assist with both self-placement and replacement of students in open schools across all categories.

According to the Ghana Education Service, a total of 165,601 candidates will have to undergo self-placement because their school preferences could not be matched.
