Fire Erupts at KNUST’s Prempeh II Library

A third-floor electrical outlet malfunction caused a fire, which resulted in pandemonium at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Prempeh II Library.

All individuals were securely removed from the library after firefighters quickly put out the fire. The students have resumed their studies in anticipation of tomorrow’s end-of-semester exams, which will bring the situation back to normal.

During his speech, Master Kane Nana Francis, the incoming president of the KNUST SRC, cautioned the students against overloading electrical outlets and emphasized the importance of taking safety precautions in case of a fire.

He also urged students to remain calm and avoid panic in such situations. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in this incident.

This fire incident follows just 10 days after a blaze affected a three-story accommodation facility known as “Father Hostel” at KNUST.

That fire reduced at least nine rooms to rubble, impacting 22 students and three teaching assistants. The outgoing Yvonne-Nkay led SRC administration provided relief items and temporary accommodation for the affected victims.
