Electrician Electrocuted While Fixing Power Issue in Navrongo

Tragedy struck Navrongo in the Upper East Region on Tuesday when a young electrician lost his life after being electrocuted while attempting to fix a power issue. The incident occurred near Navrongo Secondary School, where the electrician, in his early 30s, was working on a utility pole.
The electrician, employed by Alaye Electricals, was called to address a power outage in the area. Eyewitnesses reported that he climbed the high-tension utility pole to investigate the problem. Unfortunately, while he was still working on the pole, power was unexpectedly restored, leading to a fatal electrocution.
“There was a problem with the high-tension poles, so he was called to fix it. The power was out when he arrived, but while working, the electricity was restored, leading to his tragic death,” a local reporter shared with Accra-based Citi News.

The sudden surge of electricity while the electrician was on the pole caused his immediate death. Emergency responders later retrieved his body from the scene and transported it to the War Memorial Hospital mortuary in Navrongo for further examination.
The tragic incident has left the local community in shock, with many expressing their condolences to the family and colleagues of the young electrician. It also serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that electricians and utility workers face while performing their jobs, particularly when dealing with high-voltage electrical lines.
As investigations into the incident continue, local authorities and utility companies are urged to review safety protocols to prevent such accidents in the future, ensuring the safety of workers and residents alike.
