Donald Trump shot at a rally in Pennsylvania

US former President Donald Trump was injured Saturday after there were loud bangs at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

CNN reports that after the bangs, Trump fell to the ground. He was stood back up by security personnel and had blood on his face.

He was yelling back to the crowd and then was whisked away by security personnel.

Sky News reports that Trump appeared to fall to the ground as he was giving a speech.

He was quickly surrounded by armed security and stayed down for around a minute.

Loud bangs were heard before Trump fell. Agents then helped him stand, and he had blood on his face.

He was yelling back to the crowd and raised his fist.

He was then taken to a vehicle and evacuated from the scene.

Reports suggest gunshots were fired at the Donald Trump rally.

Video appeared to show blood on his ear as he was taken away. The former president appeared to be clutching the side of his head as he fell to the ground.

Republican senator for Ohio, J.D Vance, said in a post on the X social media platform: “Everyone join me in praying for our President Trump and everyone at that rally. I hope everyone is ok.”

US President Joe Biden said he was not briefed on the reported shooting, speaking to reporters as he walked out of church in Delaware.

Trump is safe – Secret Service

In a statement, the Secret Service said Trump was safe and that measures for his protection had been implemented.

They added that an active investigation was now under way and that further information would be released when available.

The Republican candidate for president had been addressing his supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania – a crucial swing state in November’s election.

Multiple bangs rang out as Trump attacked his successor, President Joe Biden, and his administration.

Several supporters holding placards and standing behind Trump ducked as the apparent shots were heard.
