CSSPS announces the date for BECE school placement release

The National Coordinator of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), Mark Sasu, has revealed that the placement results for students who sat for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be released a week before October 30, 2024. This release will allow graduates to report to their second-cycle schools promptly.

In an interview, Sasu assured that the CSSPS Secretariat is working efficiently to meet the deadline, despite concerns about the limited time.

He noted that once the Secretariat has gathered all five necessary data sets—the school register, master file (bio file), choice file, vacancy file, and results file—the placements can proceed smoothly.

He further explained that both the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the TVET division, and the Minister of Education have engaged various security agencies to address potential fraud in the school placement process.

“This being an election year, some may attempt to disrupt the system. However, security agencies are alert, and anyone caught will face the law,” Sasu emphasized.

This year, four categories of students—regular, private, foreign, and re-entry—will be considered for school placements. A total of 569,236 candidates, comprising 282,703 males and 286,533 females from 19,505 Junior High Schools, participated in the examination.

Among them were 59 candidates with visual impairments, 263 with hearing impairments, and 161 with other accommodations. The exams were held at 2,123 centers nationwide, with 3,845 candidates absent.

As the final steps toward placement conclude, students and parents eagerly await the outcome to plan their transition to the next phase of their education.
