Barcelona confirms contact with Lionel Messi as they work to hasten his homecoming

Lionel Messi has reportedly been contacted by Barcelona considering a potential return to the team, according to vice president Rafa Yuste of the club.

In 2021, the Argentine superstar made an emotional exit from the Camp Nou to join Paris-Saint Germain, a French powerhouse.

After graduating from the club’s academy and becoming one of the best players in football history, Messi stayed there for 17 years.

Barcelona has already stated that since he would be a free agent this summer, a return would be financially feasible.

With the La Liga leaders taking action to lock up their best player, a comeback appears to be very much in the cards.

Leo and his family are aware of my love for them, Yuste remarked.

“I took part in the negotiations, which regrettably did not produce the desired outcome. I’ve always had it in me, and I still do, that Leo couldn’t stay at our club. Messi is aware of our gratitude towards him. He should come back, please. Of course, we communicate with them.”

Between 2004 and 2021, Messi made 778 games for Barcelona, scoring 672 goals and dishing out 303 assists. At the club, he won ten La Liga championships, four Champions Leagues, and numerous other significant awards.

The 35-year-old left for greener pastures after Barcelona’s financial woes prevented them from giving him a new contract.

Messi scored 10 more goals in his rookie campaign, which saw him win the Ligue 1 championship, after scoring his first goal for PSG against Manchester City in the Champions League. But, this season, he has significantly improved, scoring 18 goals and dishing out 17 assists.

Messi’s World Cup victory with Argentina in Qatar during his stay in Paris has also contributed to his international success.

Fans would be thrilled to see him make a triumphant return to Barcelona in the summer, as it would mark the beginning of another thrilling chapter in his storied career.
