A/R: Teacher butchered to death for allegedly pursuing another man’s girlfriend

A Basic School teacher at Asante Akyem Agogo in the Ashanti Region was brutally murdered for reportedly pursuing another man’s girlfriend.

Maxwell Opoku, the victim, was allegedly attacked on the evening of Tuesday, July 11, 2023, by an unidentified masked individual.

At the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, he passed away from his wounds.

On that tragic night, about 9:00 pm, Maxwell Opoku, a teacher at Saint Augustin R/C Junior High School in Agogo, was attacked by the unidentified assailant shortly after meeting a 22-year-old seamstress nearby.

Witnesses said that when the teacher was being attacked, he yelled in agony and cried out for help. He was discovered by those who arrived on the scene in a pool of blood.

Maxwell Opoku suffered many machete wounds from the attacker, who also targeted his wrists, head, and other body parts.

According to reports, the teacher had previously been threatened by an unnamed person over his friendship with the young seamstress.

The incident was confirmed by Enock Asiedu, the assemblyman representing the Agogo Obuase electoral area, who also said that the police have opened an inquiry. He added that the police had detained the involved female to help with their investigation.
